Welcome to Part 1 of the Ridglea North Virtual Garden Tour Series, where we feature videos and pictures of our original in-person garden tour event participants, as well as contributions from other Ridglea North neighbors. Want your garden included in one of our upcoming issues? Email us pictures and/or a video and a short write-up about your garden. Enjoy this week's featured gardens below!

Featured Garden: Janis' Backyard Transformation

When we moved to this house I had a blank palette, as the back yard was just dirt. I had some ideas about how I wanted the back garden to look but was taking my time. A drainage problem gave me the necessary push, as our solution, from Elizabeth Anna, added a dry creek bed, a walking bridge, stone paths and some berms.

I wanted a wild garden with native plants that has a Cottage feel and would be both organic & water wise. I also really like direct seed planting.

After adding a few anchoring plants, with design help from Elizabeth Anna, I just started exploring flowers that would grow here. I also planted some herbs and artichokes and I’m big on bulbs.

Really I just focus on what I like (flowers & herbs), keep trying new plants, and let the success and failure of my plantings lead me. I like to think of my garden as painting with plants. ~Janis Jolcuvar

Featured Garden: Verlie's Coastal Oasis

I love the ocean & beach, but since I don’t live on the beach, I decided to create a coastal oasis in my back yard. I hope you enjoy a tour of my back yard. The hot tub serves as my “ocean” and the decor reminds me of where I can relax. ~Verlie Edwards
