September Yard of the Month Meet Kris Jones at 6425 Malvey Ave, the shining star of Ridglea North’s September Yard of the Month! Kris moved to the neighborhood in 2018 and immediately set to work transforming her property into a beautiful haven. She revamped her home's exterior and gave her front yard a fabulous makeover, turning it from a cactus garden with overgrown shrubs into a charming English garden.
Kris lovingly refers to her garden as “organized chaos,” but she finds great joy and tranquility working among her plants. Her garden is a vibrant blend of Nandina, Loropetalum, Asparagus Fern, and Lillies, providing a stunning backdrop for eye-catching perennials like Salvia, Society Garlic, Coneflowers, and Texas Primrose. Currently, her garden features colorful Vinca, but soon she’ll be swapping them out for cheerful Pansies and Cabbage as cooler weather sets in.
The front flower bed also boasts a cozy patio area with container gardens, including a lovely Wisteria vine that promises to offer lush green coverage in the future. Although her garden has come a long way, Kris sees her yard as a continuous project and looks forward to planting a new tree to replace the 100-year-old Elm she lost last year. The local butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds visit often and seem to agree this garden is a harmonious slice of nature.
Thank you, Kris, for adding such beauty to Ridglea North with your stunning yard!

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT!
Tuesday, October 1
5:00-6:30 PM
We are excited to invite you to join us in Berney Park for a special National Night Out event, where we come together as a community to celebrate and honor our dedicated First Responders! Although the event will be a bit smaller this year due to ongoing construction in the park, it will still be filled with fun and spirit. We’ve planned some light refreshments and snacks, and there will be activities for the kids to enjoy.
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors, show our appreciation for the brave men and women who serve our community, and continue the tradition of unity and safety that National Night Out represents. While the construction may limit the scope of the event, it won't stop us from coming together to make it a memorable evening.
We look forward to seeing you there for a great time of celebration, community, and gratitude!

The playground demolition is officially complete, and we’re thrilled to announce that construction is now underway! It’s an exciting moment for everyone involved, as the project has moved beyond the planning stages and is beginning to take shape. In the following aerial photos, you’ll get a glimpse of the remarkable progress that has already been made on-site.
While we know this will be a gradual process, seeing these initial steps come to life fills us with excitement and anticipation. It’s been a long time coming, but the journey toward creating a vibrant new space for our community has officially begun. We can’t wait to continue sharing updates as construction progresses!
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we work to bring this vision to reality!

The organizers of Academy 4 at M.L. Phillips are seeking passionate mentors and dedicated volunteers to join them for the upcoming school year. Academy 4 offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by providing a mentor for every 4th grader in the underserved schools we serve. By volunteering, you can play an essential role in shaping the future of these young students by inspiring leadership and fostering personal growth.
Mentors meet with their students just once a month, for 90 minutes on a Friday afternoon, but the influence is profound. During this time, you'll build meaningful relationships and offer encouragement, helping to guide these 4th graders as they develop their leadership skills and confidence. It’s a rewarding experience that not only supports these students but also strengthens our entire community.
For more insight into the incredible work being done through Academy 4, we encourage you to watch the video linked here. It provides a closer look at the program and the difference it’s making in the lives of students. Additionally, we’ve included a graphic that outlines all of the dates for this year’s sessions.
We hope you'll consider lending your time and energy to support our local public schools. Together, we can equip these young students with the tools they need to become amazing future leaders. Your involvement could be the difference that helps them reach their fullest potential!
