Rock the Block this month

Will your block "Rock the Block" this month? RNNA is challenging each block in Ridglea North to accept our "Rock the Block" challenge. We're asking you to plan a get-together with your neighbors or make plans to come to an RNNA event together. You can keep things simple with coffee and donuts in the driveway or go all out with a potluck dinner or cocktail party. The sky's the limit! Send us pictures of your party and we'll feature your block in our next newsletter.

Today is Election Day

Today, May 1, is the last day to vote in the City of Fort Worth mayoral and city council elections. Click here for voting location information and other election day resources. Get out there and vote, neighbors!

Thank you, Berney Park "Adopt-a-bed" volunteers

Thank you to the generous neighbors who have "adopted" a bed in Berney Park. Volunteers pull weeds throughout the year as needed and communicate any other landscape needs to the Park & Green Spaces VP. Pictured here are Steve, Lillian and Clyde Bruns, who went the extra mile and planted flowers in the monument flowerbeds! Interested in helping out? Contact P&GS VP Joe French.

Yard of the Month

The May Yard of the Month has been awarded to 6117 Locke, the home of Erica & Bryce Parten and their infant son, Ford. Their home is framed at each corner by magnolia trees, with a beautiful mix of spring annuals across the front on each side of the porch. Two pots on either side of the door are planted with rosemary and still vibrant pansies. Erica says her mother needs to receive credit for the design, as she planted many of the flowers when she was here to help with the new baby. Whoever gets credit, it is a beautiful example of the outstanding yards in Ridglea North. Please drive by and enjoy. Interested in helping us choose the next winner? Neighbor Spotlight: Jess Garner

1) Tell us about yourself and your family. We are Michael, Jess, Reese (12) and Cameron (10) Garner. Michael is President of UMB bank and we are currently homeschooling our girls. We enjoy spending time as a family - playing outside with our dog (Pearl), visiting the zoo, spending time on the lake, sporting events, and movie nights.

2) How long have you lived in Ridglea North? Work brought us from St. Louis to Texas in the fall of 2017. We transplanted from Keller to Ridglea North in the fall of 2019. The Locke Block crew welcomed us with open arms and we are here to stay!

3) What’s your favorite neighborhood activity or event? Our favorite neighborhood activity would be all the unofficial gatherings of friends in back yards, around a kitchen island or the spontaneous front porch chats. There is no lack of social scene around here!

4) What’s your favorite thing to do in Fort Worth? Exploring all the restaurants is probably our favorite family activity. Fort Worth has so much variety - we never run out of options for a Friday or Saturday night.

5) What’s your best advice on being a good neighbor? Being a good neighbor means helping draw new people into already established friendships, jumping to action when someone needs help, celebrating accomplishments and life moments with each other… there are so many ways to be neighborly!
