July 4th Parade & Kona Ice

Saturday, July 4, 9:30am

This year, RNNA is taking our 4th of July celebration to the streets! Our patriotic parade of vehicles will cruise through Ridglea North starting at 9:30am. All neighbors are invited to participate - as a spectator or by driving in the parade. Check out these simple guidelines for driving in the parade, and click below to RSVP to Events Coordinator Renee Mitcham if you want to join.

Kona Ice will be set up at Berney Park from 10-11:30am. Pick up a tropical shaved ice at your leisure. Card payments only (no cash).

RNNA wishes to remind neighbors to take the proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If possible, please stay in your own yard to view the parade. If moving to a different location is necessary, please keep a 6 foot distance from those outside your household and consider wearing a mask. RNNA discourages congregating in Berney Park. The safety and health of our neighbors is our highest priority!

Parade drivers wanted! Click here to RSVP

Park & Green Spaces Update

A note from the RNNA Park & Green Spaces Director

Howdy RNNA Friends & Neighbors!

Have you noticed how great Berney Park and the new sign and trees look? In my opinion, Berney Park has never looked better and we have YOU to thank for a big part of that! The park requires lots of care. Through RNNA, we have worked hard on ant control, weed control, and fertilizer for the grass. We have trimmed the crêpe myrtles, mulched, repaired irrigation, installed some new irrigation, planted Lantana, and worked carefully with the City to align our goals and efforts with theirs. The City is trying to schedule the “Citizen Forester“ Group to do a little more work on the crêpe myrtles, and their own crews to trim up some of the smaller Live Oaks and ensure that the larger Live Oaks' branches leave adequate room for pathways and areas around the playground.

The Park & Green Spaces Committee led a fabulous social distance work effort to clean up all the beds around the entire park. A lot of folks pitched in and worked hard to get those beds looking their best! With respect to social distancing expectations, we have decided to have the beds professionally maintained for the rest of 2020, but hope to return to neighborhood involvement in 2021. For the remainder of 2020, we appreciate any financial support towards this cause you may have, or help by simply pulling weeds when you notice them in the park.

I welcome phone calls, emails, or texts from anyone looking to join the parks & green space committee, or learn more about what we’re doing in Berney Park or any of the green spaces around Ridglea North! We are so lucky to have Berney Park as the heart of this wonderful neighborhood.

Sincerely,

Joe French

Ridglea North Crime Watch

If you’re interested in learning about crime prevention and helping to watch out for all Ridglea North neighbors, consider joining our Crime Watch group. Members become familiar with the dynamics of the neighborhood including who lives around them, which vehicles belong on their street and what time of day neighbors come and go – and then report any suspicious activity using 911. Observations are shared with the other members via a group text so that the group can make additional observations to aid in first responder investigations. Participants do NOT patrol the neighborhood or try to engage with anyone suspected of criminal activity. Interested in joining? Click below to contact RNNA VP of Public Safety Joe Slaieh.
