UPDATES FROM THE I-30 CORRIDOR TOWN MEETING

Stephanie Muzi and Leanna Johnson attended the I-30 Corridor Town Meeting yesterday at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The following is a summary of what we learned:

  • Based on previous community input, express lanes have been eliminated from consideration.
  • The current design is shown above: 4 lanes in each direction, 2 lanes for each frontage road, and a shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Environmental and schematic studies are still being completed, including air quality, noise pollution, drainage, and community impact studies.
  • The area under study is shown in the image below.
  • These studies are expected to be completed by Summer 2024, however there will be additional public meetings in late Summer 2023 and Spring 2024.
  • NO FUNDING HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. As of this moment, these studies are informational only. We surmise, however, that funding will be secured in the future with construction likely beginning late 2024 or early 2025.
  • The largest impacts for our neighborhood will be some eminent domain issues along Calmont Avenue to make way for a shared use path, the possible demolition of the two houses on either side of Ridglea Avenue at the I-30 bridge as well as the water tower on Tex Blvd, and the widening of the neighborhood access points at Ridglea Avenue and Westridge Avenue. The neighborhood map will be shown below.

If you would like to give feedback, Charles Cox is the TxDOT Project Manager for this corridor study. Email is FTW_I_30_West@txdot.gov or call at (817) 370-6533

When the official report is released, we will update the neighborhood with official links. For now, in an effort to get this information out to you as soon as possible, please bear with our iPhone photos taken at the meeting.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Muzi, RNNA President

Leanna Johnson, RNNA Vice President of Association Affairs

The focus of this study are the interstates and access points shaded in orange, not yellow.
