GREAT NEWS! Councilman Michael Crain informed us that the upgrade to Morris E. Berney Park's playground will begin on Monday, August 6th. This project is being done in conjunction with seven other parks in the city and will be completed in the next eight months. As a courtesy to us, the city has asked the contractor responsible for the eight-playground project to start and finish the work at Morris Berney Park first! This means that at times there will be a flurry of activity at Berney and at other times there won’t be. Contractors will be rotating from park to park throughout the length of the project. A sign will be installed this week with the Project Planner’s Patrick Vicknair’s contact information in case there are any questions. He can be reached at 817-392-5967 or by email at Patrick.Vicknair@FortWorthTexas.gov.
Additionally, while the playground design was chosen by popular vote of RNNA members several years ago (see above), Ridglea North Neighborhood Association will not have control over how the contractor, who was selected by the city, manages the project, but we will stay in communication with the city and will aim to provide updates to our neighbors throughout the process. This has been a multi-year project for both the city and the Ridglea North Neighborhood Association, so thank you for your membership and continued support of the RNNA! In preparation for the construction, the city removed dead and permanently damaged crepe myrtles on the north and south sides of the playground, and they refreshed the entire playing surface of our current playground. We have our Director at Large for Parks & Green Spaces, Christopher Griffin, to thank specifically for maintaining regular contact with the city and pushing to get the park looking as good as it does. We thank him for his excellent leadership in making our neighborhood more beautiful!

JULY YARD OF THE MONTH Meet the Westfall family, our July Yard of the Month winners at 6437 Curzon Avenue! Dan and Christine, who joined our neighborhood in 2021, transformed their yard into an English garden masterpiece after a devastating freeze claimed most vegetation earlier that year.
Starting with soil rejuvenation and tree removal, they created the stunning garden we see today. While they did all the work themselves, they are especially grateful to Scott at Archie’s Gardenland for his invaluable advice throughout the process.
The garden boasts a colorful display of tried-and-true perennials like Hydrangea, Salvia, and Plumbago. Adding a whimsical touch are English hybrid Tea Roses, Society Garlic, and Scabiosa. Lamb’s Ear adds a delightful texture to the garden, while the copper rain chain serves as both a clever and attractive water run-off solution.
The Westfall family has not only grown a beautiful garden but also welcomed their bright-eyed and beautiful son, Will, during their time in Ridglea North. Thank you, Westfall family, for making Ridglea North a more beautiful place to live and grow.

AUGUST YARD OF THE MONTH Say hello to Misty and Doug Green at 6401 Kenwick – our Yard of the Month winners for August! The Greens have once again shown their incredible gardening skills, having previously won this honor in June 2015. Over their 17 years in this home, they've experimented with various landscape designs, facing challenges like extreme heat, excess rain, and freezing temperatures.
Recently, for their latest inspiration, the couple explored the streets of Ridglea North, observing which plants thrive in our area, and then set to work creating their own oasis. They seem to have found the perfect formula! Majestic Junipers provide a stunning backdrop, while Loropetalum and Yucca add variety and dependability. Knock Out Roses bring a vibrant splash of color, and the cheerful Black-eyed Susans overflow the flowerbeds, making everyone who sees them smile. The lush St. Augustine yard and Asian Jasmine ground cover complete the Green home beautifully.
Thank you, Misty and Doug, for making Ridglea North even greener with your dedication to beautiful landscaping!

A LOOK BACK AT THE 4TH OF JULY On Thursday, July 4th, Ridglea North celebrated the independence of our country in Berney Park. Expertly organized by Tabitha Williams, Event Coordinator, Agape Pops and Fuzzy's Tacos sold frozen sweet treats and breakfast tacos after an epic car parade. Our First Responders were in tow, with our NPO Michael Kuzenka leading the pack. Councilman Crain attended and enjoyed the day with Ridglea North residents as well. There were plenty of activities for kids, including a fantastic bounce house complete with slide! We want to give special mention and THANKS to our neighborhood business sponsors ACE Hardware and Complete Care Camp Bowie for participating, donating, and showing up to support our neighborhood. We honestly couldn't have done it without you! Until next year's celebration, enjoy our freedom!
