Congratulations to April's Yard of the Month!

In the heart of our neighborhood, the Muzi family's yard shines as a cheerful oasis, earning them the delightful title of April’s Yard of the Month! New to the area in 2021, Marc & Stephanie soon learned about Texas soil and climate concerns in order to enhance their home’s curb appeal. They redesigned the shape and size of the flowerbeds and chose native plants such as Loropetalum and Texas Sage as perennial favorites. Currently, dwarf dianthus (annual) borders the front sidewalk and the white blooms seem to wink and wave hello from their corner location at 6400 Kenwick. In an eco-friendly approach, the Muzi's have also added a thoughtful touch by incorporating a few rain barrels to their landscape, collecting nature’s gift to nourish their garden. Their commitment to sustainability is an inspiration to us all. The Muzi's partnered with Keane Landscaping to create their landscape dreams.

We will also be holding a drawing for FREE zoo passes! Since our zoo is nationally recognized as one of the best zoos in America, this is an especially amazing treat!

In case you don't know , on Monday, April 8th, there will be a TOTAL Solar Eclipse! The next one that passes over DFW won't be until 2317, so this is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT! Here are some watch parties to check out:

Be sure to view the solar eclipse safely! Follow these tips:

Use safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun.

Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer. These devices will magnify the intensity of the sun and cause retinal damage. Eclipse glasses are ONLY meant to be used as glasses for your face.

If you don’t have solar viewing glasses, make a pinhole projector. Follow these simple instructions: How to View a Solar Eclipse: Make a Pinhole Projector

If you are watching an entire eclipse, you may be in direct sunlight for hours. Remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, and protective clothing to prevent skin damage!

Have fun and be safe! Enjoy this spectacular celestial event!! 😎☀️🌚
